Man will serve time in prison after a routine traffic stop in March turned into a high-speed chase hitting 115 mph.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A Washington, D.C. man whose traffic stop for speeding last March evolved into a hairy, high-speed chase that included a struck officer and the theft of a police car was sentenced Friday to two years in prison, according to U.S. Attorney Dana J. Boente, Eastern District of Virginia.
Wilson Alfonso Overton, 27, also was sentenced to three years of supervised release and ordered to pay $32,157 in restitution.
According to court documents, Overton was pulled over for speeding by U.S. Park Police on March 16 on the George Washington Memorial Parkway, after which they smelled marijuana and asked him to step out of the vehicle.
