Oxon Hill Man Charged In 2019 Fatal Shooting Of Southeast Man
D.C. homicide detectives arrested an Oxon Hill man in connection with the August 2019 fatal shooting of William Roland of Southeast.
WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department arrested a suspect Wednesday in connection with the August 2019 fatal shooting of William Roland, 28, of Southeast, according to a police release.
On Aug. 17, around 3:05 a.m., officers from the Sixth District responded to the 1700 block of Q Street, S.E., for the report of gunshots being heard. Arriving on the scene, they found Roland in the 1500 block of 18th Street, S.E., suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and EMS transported him to an area hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries. Despite every effort to save his life, Roland succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Acting on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant and booking order, officers took Melvin Simmons, 26, of Oxon Hill, Maryland, to the Homicide Branch, where he was charged with first degree murder while armed.
