Panic On Metro After Blind Woman Falls Onto Tracks In DC: Reports

The incident happened Friday morning at the Van Ness-UDC station.

WASHINGTON, DC -- A blind woman fell between train cars at a Metro station in D.C., sparking panic and confusion at the station, according to reports.

WJLA reports that the there was no information about the woman's condition, and Red Line trains had to single-track for a while due to the incident. Metro is investigating.

One Twitter user claims to have heard through a coworker who was there that the train had pulled too far in so there was a gap between the gate at the end of the tracks.

"When the doors opened, she stepped forward thinking it was the door and went onto the tracks," the user wrote. "Then people screamed and ran towards the front to tell the conductor. Everyone else thought they were running from an attacker. So everyone else poured out of the train and started running."
