Protesters Demonstrate Against Trump's Emergency Declaration

WASHINGTON, DC — After President Donald Trump issued an executive order declaring the situation at the southern border a national emergency, the American Civil Liberties and other human rights organizations called on people to mobilize across the country for a Presidents Day Protest on Monday, Feb. 18.

Pockets of protesters cropped up to rally against what progressive social justice organization Move On said was a "fake national emergency."

Here are some locations where people took to the streets on the federal holiday to protest.

In Boston at Harvard Square, elected officials were among those protesting at 1 p.m.

At Florida International University near Miami, there was a rally ahead of Trump's planned appearance at the university's Ocean Bank Convocation Center, where he was slated to address the Venezuelan American community after 4 p.m.

In Austin, Texas, protesters took to Republic Square.

In New York, a gathering was slated from 5 to 6 p.m. at Union Square Park.
