Smoke On Red Line Sends Metro Passengers Fleeing: Reports
Firefighters reportedly are on the scene at the Dupont Circle Metro station after smoke was reported in the system.

UPDATE 12:15 p.m.: The incident was due to an arcing insulator, and firefighters never entered the tunnel, according to the Washington Post.
UPDATE 11:11 a.m.: The Red Line is now single tracking, and firefighters appear to have cleared the scene, but delays persist.
WASHINGTON, DC — Passengers are flooding out of a Red Line station due to reports of fire as firefighters head to the scene Tuesday morning.

Metro tweeted that service has been suspended between Cleveland Park and Dupont Circle due to a "track problem" outside of Dupont Circle. At no point does Metro indicate that the fire department has been called, but numerous users on Twitter are reporting a fire and say fire crews have entered the station as passengers head for the exits.
