Reston Hospital Center Honored As Top General Hospital

RESTON, VA — Reston Hospital Center this week earned a Top General Hospital designation from The Leapfrog Group, a watchdog organization that reviews heath care safety and quality across the U.S. The award is considered one of the most competitive honors a hospital can receive.

The award follows on the heels of Reston Hospital Center’s “A” Hospital Safety Grade, which Leapfrog presented to the hospital in November.

Reston Hospital Center was one of only 120 hospitals to receive a Top Hospital distinction, from among the 2,100 hospitals across the country Leapfrog considered for the award.

The watchdog group considers performance across a number of different areas, including infection rates, safe surgical practices, maternity care, and the hospitality’s ability to prevent medication errors, in determining which facilities are Top Hospitals. These standards are are part of Leapfrog’s Top Hospital Methodology.

To be named one of Leapfrog’s Top Hospitals, a medical facility must rank high among its peers in the 2019 Leapfrog Hospital Survey.

Leapfrog's awards aren't the only honors Reston Hospital Center received this year. In August, Healthgrades presented the hospital with its Labor and Delivery Excellence Award and the Obstetrics and Gynecology Excellence Award.
