Scott Davidson, the managing principal at Reston's GCO Consulting Group, joined other members of the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation's Leadership Council in donating $3.1 million to the team's charitable fundraising efforts. The council members presented an oversized check for that amount at FedExField before Sunday's home game against the New York Giants.

The Leadership Council raised the money in support of children's charities throughout the Washington, D.C. region. Since its start in 2000, the foundation has distributed over $26 million to the community.

“It’s an incredible feeling, just knowing the impact these donations have on the lives of children in our community and being a part of it,” Davidson said, in a release.

A retired Army captain, Davidson joined the council earlier this year. “I’m honored to be a member of the charitable foundation’s Leadership Council and look forward to the good work ahead," he said.

Davidson's day job is leading the GCO Consulting Group, a Reston-based firm that advises federal contractors. For the past two years, GCO Consulting has acted as a presenting sponsor for the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation's Redskins Welcome Home Luncheon, which raised more than $1 million to fund wellness and education programs for children.
