Rockville Man Arrested For Assaulting 2 Police Officers

D.C. Police say a man arrested Saturday night for assaulting a police officer was involved in a similar incident in May.

WASHINGTON, DC — Metropolitan Police Department detectives from the Second District arrested a Maryland man in connection with the assault of two police officers, according to a police report. One of the assaults occurred Saturday night, but the other took place in May, according to MPD.

Around 11 p.m., a man assaulted an on-duty MPD officer in the 1500 block of K Street, Northwest, and then fled the scene. The officer was treated f0r non-life-threatening injuries. Officers at the scene located and apprehended the man.

Following an investigation, police were able to link the man to a similar incident that occurred on May 31. In that incident, police say the man assaulted an on-duty MPD officer around 7:35 p.m., in the 1400 block of H Street, Northwest. He then fled the scene. The officer was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

On Saturday, MPD arrested Omar Knight, 30, of Rockville, Maryland, and charged him with two counts of assault on a police officer.
