Roof Deck Collapses At DC Nightclub

No one was injured after a scary incident at a Florida Avenue nightclub Sunday evening.

WASHINGTON, DC — A partial collapse of the roof deck area of a nightclub in D.C. prompted a response from the D.C. Fire and EMS "Cave-In Task Force" Sunday evening.

Fortunately, no one was injured after the collapse in the 600 block of Florida Avenue NW, as the club was safely evacuated, according to a tweet from D.C. Fire and EMS shortly after 7 p.m.

The Cave-In Task Force responded shortly after to assess the structural integrity of the original building and adjacent structure, and authorities requested a building inspector to give it a look-over.

After further investigation, authorities believe that excess weight compromised the floor joists, causing the roof to bow. The Cave-In Task Force shored the area to prevent any further damage.
