Sexual Assault Near Navy Yard: DC Police Seek Suspect
D.C. Police are looking for a suspect in connection with a sexual assault that took place Thursday night near the Washington Navy Yard.
WASHINGTON, DC — Metropolitan Police Department detectives from the Sexual Assault Unit are asking for the public's help in tracking down a suspect in connection with an assault with intent to commit first-degree sexual abuse offense that took place Thursday near the Washington Navy Yard, according to a police release.
Encountering the victim around 7 p.m., in the 1100 block of 8th St., S.E., the suspect exposed himself and asked the victim to engage in a sexual act. After the victim refused, the suspect produced a knifed and assaulted the victim. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Police describe the suspect as a black male with a dark complexion and heavy build, who was about 6 feet tall and between 50-59 years old. He had a mustache and salt and pepper colored hair.
