Shepherd Park Community Center Groundbreaking Happening Dec. 17
The project, which is expected to be completed by summer 2020, will cost $13.1 million, city officials said.

WASHINGTON, DC - On Tuesday, Dec.17, at 3 p.m. the community will celebrate the groundbreaking of the new Shepherd Park Community Center in Ward 4.
The celebration will include refreshments, fun activities, and more and will be hosted by Mayor Muriel Bowser.
According to city officials, the project will consist of the addition of a new recreation center that is attached to the existing Shepherd Elementary School to include a gymnasium, multipurpose room, fitness center, office, storage space and bathrooms for both elementary students and adults.

The recreation center will be utilized by the elementary school during school hours as their gymnasium and dining cafeteria. Along with the recreation center addition the project will include renovating the school’s existing warming kitchen and cafeteria to a full cooking kitchen and serving area.
The building will be located at 7800 14th Street NW and is expected to cost $13.1 million. The project is expected to be completed by summer 2020.
