Smithsonian Museums To Reopen After COVID-19 Closures
The Smithsonian closed the three museums in January due to a surge in omicron cases among employees across all of its museums.
WASHINGTON, DC — The Smithsonian will reopen three museums — the Anacostia Community Museum, National Postal Museum and the National Air and Space Museum — next week after they closed earlier this winter due to COVID-19-related staffing shortages, the Smithsonian said Monday.
The Anacostia Community Museum will open Thursday, March 10, and the National Postal Museum will open Friday, March 11. The National Air and Space Museum’s building on the National Mall will be open Friday, March 11 through Sunday, March 27. It will then close March 28 for renovations until the fall.
