Southeast Man Charged In Anacostia Fatal Shooting: DC Police

D.C. Police arrested a Southeast man in connection with a fatal shooting of a women that occurred Saturday in Anacostia.

WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department arrested a Southeast man in connection with the fatal shooting of 40-year-old Tia Cokley of Southeast on Saturday, according to a police release.

Officers from the Sixth District responded around 11:41 a.m., to the report of a shooting in the 1900 block of 16th Street, S.E. They found Cokley suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and EMS transported her to a nearby hospital for treatment, but all life-saving efforts failed and she was pronounced dead. Responding officers apprehended a suspect and a preliminary investigation revealed the victim and suspect knew each other.

MPD arrested David Robinson, 39, of Southeast, and charged with second degree murder while armed.
