Southeast Man Dies In Hospital After Shooting In Northeast: Police

WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are investigating the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Jahmeze Williams of Southeast on Tuesday night, according to a release.

Officers responded around 10:01 p.m., to the 1200 block of North Capitol Street, Northwest for the report of the sound of gunshots, but no victim was found.

A short time later, police learned that Williams had walked into a local hospital, seeking treatment for a gunshot wound. After all life-saving efforts failed, Williams died from his injury, according to police.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call MPD at 202-727-9099. Anonymous tips may be submitted via the department's text tip line by texting a message to 50411.

MPD is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 for anyone who supplies information that leads to the arrest and conviction of any person responsible for a homicide in the District.
