Northeast Man Fatally Shot Near Washington Navy Yard

D.C. homicide detectives are looking for the person who fatally shot Marcus Wallace in a residence near the Washington Navy Yard Saturday.

WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are investigating the fatal shooting of a Northeast man that occurred Saturday night near the Washington Navy Yard, according to a police release. The deceased victim was identified as 36-year-old Marcus Wallace.

Members of the First District responded around 9:05 p.m., for the report of a shooting in the 1400 block of L Street, S.E. They found a Wallace inside a residential building suffering from gunshot wounds. After examining Wallace, D.C. Fire and EMS determined that he had died and then transported his body to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Police ask anyone with information about this case to call 202-727-9099 or text a tip to 50411. MPD is currently offering a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who can provide information that leads to the arrest and conviction of any person responsible for a crime committed in the District.
