Southeast Woman Killed In Anacostia Shooting: Police

D.C. Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a Southeast woman early Tuesday morning in Anacostia.

WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Tuesday morning in Anacostia, according to a police release.

Around 1:30 a.m., officers from the Seventh District responded to the 1600 block of W St., S.E., for the report of a shooting. They found an unconscious adult female, suffering from a gunshot wound. D.C. Fire and EMS transported the victim to a nearby hospital, but all life-saving efforts failed and she was pronounced dead.

Police identified the decedent as Kamonie Edwards, 21, of Southeast.
