WASHINGTON, DC — As the Washington Football Team prepares to announce its new name on Feb. 2, we want to hear your thoughts on the finalist names.

The NFL team is in the midst of a rebranding that started in 2020 when the Redskins team name was dropped. The switch to the temporary Washington Football Team name came amid growing pressure from corporate sponsors to stop using Redskins, as some believe the name was a slur against Native Americans.

The finalists for the team's new name are Armada, Presidents, Brigade, Red Hogs, Commanders, Defenders and the Washington Football Team. The team confirmed fan favorite name Red Wolves would not be considered, as the team became aware of trademarks from other teams.
