Suspect Charged In Stabbing of 2-Year-Old Girl: DC Police

D.C. Police charged a Southeast man Wednesday in connection with the stabbing of a 2-year-old girl in the Carver/Langston area.

WASHINGTON, DC — Metropolitan Police Department detectives arrested a suspect in connection with the stabbing of 2-year-old girl Wednesday in the Carver/Langston neighborhood, according to a police report.

Around 5:48 p.m., officers from the Fifth District were dispatched for the report of a stabbing in the 1700 block of Benning Road, N.E. The officers found a 2-year-old girl suffering from multiple stab wounds. D.C. Fire and EMS transported the victim to a nearby hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. The responding officers arrested the suspect and recovered a knife.

Police charged Devonte Tyree Wright, 21, of Southeast, with assault with intent to kill while armed (knife) and first degree cruelty to children.
