Suspect In Deadly Anacostia Metro Shooting Sought By DC Police
D.C. police are looking for a suspect they believe was involved in a deadly shooting Tuesday on the Anacostia Metro station platform.

WASHINGTON, DC — Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are looking for a suspect they believe was involved in a deadly shooting Tuesday afternoon on the Anacostia Metro station platform.
Acting D.C. Police Chief Robert Contee said the victim, identified as 49 year-old Marcus Covington of Southwest D.C., had been in a brief conversation with the suspect before he was shot multiple times. He was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Covington died Wednesday from the gunshot wounds.
At about 1:35 p.m. on Tuesday, members of the Seventh District and the Metro Transit Police responded to the Anacostia Metro Station for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, the officers found Covington on the platform inside the Metro station, suffering from gunshot wounds.

The MPD is seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect. The suspect was captured by a nearby surveillance camera.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s tip line by sending a text message to 50411.
