Suspect in Idaho Pastor Shooting Found at White House Fence

Wanted in Idaho after Sunday shooting, Kyle Odom was detained Tuesday night after throwing something over the White House fence.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A man taken into custody at the White House gates Tuesday night is wanted in the shooting of a pastor in Idaho just two days earlier.

Idaho law enforcement had been searching for Kyle Andrew Odom, 30, on an attempted murder charge after the shooting Sunday afternoon in a church parking lot, according to Coeur d'Alene Police.

Odom had sent a letter and a flash drive to his parents and media outlets that indicated the pastor, Tim Remington, wasn't the only intended victim in the congregation, Det. Jared Reneau announced late Tuesday.

The case took a strange twist when Odom was taken into custody after allegedly throwing objects over the White House fence — more than 2,000 miles from the shooting Sunday.

In a statement, Secret Service said the material thrown over the fence was "non-hazardous," but no other details were released.

The Coeur d'Alene Police Department has not released details on the content of the flash drive.

Shot six times, Remington is expected to make a full recovery, according to USA Today.

Not long before the incident at the White House, Odom had updated his Facebook page profile picture. The image is a hand-drawn face on notebook paper of what appears to be a misshapen monkey in a mask.
