Suspicious Package Found Near Jan. 6 Committee Leader's Office: Report
Police said staff reported receiving a letter that contained "concerning language," according to authorities.

WASHINGTON, DC — D.C. authorities are investigating a suspicious package found near U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson's office Tuesday, according to authorities and an NBC News report.
Thompson, a Democrat from Mississippi, is the leader of the committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.
According to Capitol police, employees in the Rayburn House Office Building reported receiving a letter that contained "concerning language." Despite other reports, Capitol police screened the package and determined it did not contain any type of substance, authorities said in a tweet.
