Tensions Flare at Latino Nightclub in DC After Trump Supporter Kicked Out (VIDEO)

A bouncer booted a man who refused to take off his Trump hat at a Latino bar in Dupont Circle, a patron says.

WASHINGTON, DC — A supporter of President-elect Donald Trump posted video of a confrontation at Cafe Citron in Dupont Circle to Twitter after he said he was kicked out of the Latino nightclub because he was wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat.

George McIntyre, whose profile pic shows him wearing the red hat in question, posted video on Sunday afternoon saying he had been "assaulted and kicked out of Cafe Citron" in D.C.

Cafe Citron, located at 1343 Connecticut Ave. NW, describes itself on its website as a "lively, colorful and friendly Latin restaurant and lounge in the heart of Dupont Circle."

In the video, a bouncer can be seen confronting McIntyre while Latin music blares around them. It is difficult to tell what they are talking about at first, but at some point the bouncer says, "take your hat off and go outside, or stay and take your hat off."

The video then cuts to the street outside the nightclub, where McIntyre says that he and his companions were asked to leave.

"We had a couple people try to take our hats off," he says on the video. "One of our hats was stolen. Seriously, they called the police for us. They're waiting for us to leave. I got the bouncer recorded trying to kick us out for our hats, just because we were wearing Make America Great Again hats."

It's not hard to image why patrons at a Latin nightclub in a city that voted overwhelmingly for Hillary Clinton took offense to a man coming into the venue wearing a Trump hat. Trump is not highly regarded among many Hispanics, largely due to his promise to deport millions of immigrant families in the United States. His supporters argue that undocumented immigrants are a major problem who are living tax-free and bringing crime into the country, a claim that many see as offensive.
