Total Chaos On Metro Infuriates Riders (Photos)

The 45-day shutdown of two Red Line stations has begun, and it has resulted in some unpleasant scenes throughout Metro.

WASHINGTON, DC -- It's the first workday of the 45-day shutdown of two Red Line stations, so how is the system handling it? The short answer: not well.

Riders are taking to social media to vent their frustrations after a disastrous rush hour that saw overcrowded platforms, long delays, and many other inconveniences.

Metro shut down the Rhode Island Avenue and Brookland stations on Saturday, and they will remain shuttered through Sept. 3, with no Red Line service at all between Fort Totten and NoMa-Gallaudet -- meaning anyone who travels through that area will either have to take a shuttle bus or transfer to the Green and Yellow lines to get around the area.
