Identity Of Deceased Pedestrian Revealed By DC Police
Metropolitan Police Department released the identity of the pedestrian who died Thursday after being struck by a vehicle on Southern Avenue.
WASHINGTON, DC — Detectives from the Major Crash Investigation Unit of the Metropolitan Police Department released the identity of the pedestrian killed last Thursday after being struck by a Mercedes-Benz on Southern Avenue, Southeast, according to a police release. MPD identified the deceased pedestrian as Latoya Sommers, 42, of Southeast.
A preliminary investigation determined the Mercedes-Benz was traveling northeast in the 1300 block of Southern Ave., S.E., when it struck Sommers who was crossing the street. Police say she was not in a marked crosswalk. D.C. Fire and EMS transported Sommers to a nearby hospital for treatment, but all lifesaving efforts failed and she was pronounced dead.
