In May, a pair of students at Woodrow Wilson High School in Northwest DC learned they had been selected as Bank of America Student Leaders® for 2019.

Micah Carter and Erin Harper were chosen by Bank of America and the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington for their demonstrated leadership skills at Woodrow Wilson High School and in the broader Tenleytown community.

Miss Harper previously earned an internship with the World Bank, giving her the opportunity to visit the African nation of Senegal and assist orphanages. She is an editor with the Wilson newspaper and aspires to become an international journalist "to give a voice to the voiceless."

Miss Carter is an activist working toward increasing young people's participation in the democratic process, and has lobbied for lowering the District's voting age. She serves as an advocate for and assistant to her fellow students at Wilson.

Miss Carter and Miss Harper are among five Bank of America Student Leaders® from the D.C. region - and the only two hailing from within the city limits. The five met May 15 at Nationals Park for a formal orientation session, kicking off a summer internship including events with the American Red Cross, at the Holocaust Museum, and on Capitol Hill.
