U.S. Capitol Police Clear Suspicious Vehicle After HQ Evacuation
The building was evacuated Tuesday after a K-9 unit showed interest in a car located in the 100 block of D Street Northeast, police said.
WASHINGTON, DC — The headquarters for U.S. Capitol Police was evacuated Tuesday due to a suspicious vehicle in the area, authorities said in a statement.
According to Capitol police, the building was evacuated "out of an abundance of caution" after a K-9 unit showed interest in a car located in the 100 block of D Street Northeast.

Authorities cleared the vehicle shortly before 2:50 p.m.

The incident prompted several road closures Tuesday, according to WUSA 9 and District police. Roads also reopened around 2:50 p.m.
