VA, DC Diners Named Among 25 Best In America By Travel + Leisure

WASHINGTON, DC — If you're looking for the best diners in the country, you won't have to travel very far. According to Travel + Leisure Magazine, two of the best in the United States are in Washington, D.C., and Virginia. The travel magazine recently put together a list of the 25 best in the country, and based their rankings on a Yelp algorithm that examines both the total number of reviews and how many stars each review gave the diner.

"Diners have cemented themselves in American culture, and these days, they’re an attraction in and of themselves. And while many are good, some are absolutely great. To determine the 25 best diners in the country, Yelp ranked businesses in the diner category, excluding large chains. “Best,” according to Yelp, is based on an algorithm that looks both at the number of reviews and star ratings. No more than two diners per state can make the list in order to ensure geographic diversity," said Travel + Leisure.

Moose's by the Creek in Charlottesville came in at 17th on the list, while Flip it LJ Diner in Washington, D.C., was No. 18th.

Moose's by the Creek serves breakfast all day, every day. From omelettes that come with a side of grits or home fries to Carter Mountain Cakes with bacon and fried apples for breakfast, the menu also offers several takes on burgers for lunch. Like every great diner, breakfast is served all day. Options include build your own omelets, homemade biscuits and sausage gravy, smashed avocado toast and Uptown chicken and waffles. The lunch menu has diner classics like grilled cheese, burgers and paninis, while dinner offer Mexican tortas, baleada, and fajita platters.
