VA Man Arrested On Child Porn Distribution Charge

A Virginia man faces child pornography distribution and intent to engage in sexual contact with a child charges in federal court.

WASHINGTON, DC — Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department arrested a man Thursday who they say traveled to the District from Virginia with the intent of having sexual contact with a child.

Between Oct. 26 and Nov. 5, Joseph Arnold, 40, of Chesapeake, Virginia, sent child sexual abuse material via the internet and traveled to D.C. with the intention of engaging in sexual contact with a child, according to a police release.

Arnold was arrested Thursday and charged in U.S. Federal District Court with travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct and distribution of child pornography.

This case was investigated by MPD's Youth and Family Services Division and the FBI's Washington Field Office’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force. In addition, the FBI Norfolk Field Office offered significant assistance.
