Vehicle Of Interest Sought In Fatal Shooting Of DC Teen

D.C. Police released photos of a vehicle of interest in connection with an Aug. 10 homicide in the Brightwood Park area.

WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are asking the public's help in identifying and finding a vehicle of interest in connection with the fatal shooting of a Northeast teen on Aug. 10, according to a police release.

Around 9:34 p.m., officers from the Fourth District responded to the report of a shooting in the 5500 block of 9th Street, N.W. They found a teen male suffering from a gunshot wound. D.C. Fire and EMS examined the victim but found no signs consistent with life. Officers found a second victim at the same scene, an adult man, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

MPD identified the decedent as Taijhon Wyatt Jr., 17, of Northeast.

On Monday, MPD released photos of a vehicle of interest in connection with this case. The vehicle is described as a 2018 silver Toyota Corolla with the DC tag number FS2584. Hubcaps are also missing from the passenger side of the vehicle.

Police ask anyone who recognizes the vehicle, knows its location, or has information about this case to call 202-727-9099 or submit an anonymous tip to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411.
