Van Gogh's Immersive Show in DC
Van Gogh's Immersive Show in DC (In Van Gogh's Immersive Experience presented by "Fever")

"Love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is done well." - Vincent Van Gogh -

In my latest art adventure, I told myself “Vian, Go to the Van Gogh show” and so I did. I was very pleased with what I saw, and all the Van Gogh that I immersed myself into. I walked into a sunflower field while I saw the stars swirl up above as night was approaching, boats in the distance sailed away while the farmers in the fields rest and slept their day away - All in a day in the world of Vincent Van Gogh’s expressive brush strokes that take your eyes into a world of his own. We for a day can also be Van Gogh, walk in the artist’s shoes/boots through the virtual reality walk-through, and sit and be immersed by projected art that floats and swims in a huge gallery space with walls high and wide as far as the eyes can see. Maybe, just maybe this is what Vincent had imagined for us on how to view his art. I know one thing, Vincent would have been pleased with this immersive art experience that celebrates and honors this great master artist in every shape and form through modern technology and virtual reality.

You see, to bring happiness to the hearts of people is something very essential especially during these trying times. In a world where one turns on the news and gets blasted by nothing but bad news: wars erupting, Frankenstein COVID disease mutations, Hurricane devastation, wildfires' destruction … The world, the real world as it seems has gone haywire. So, what is one to do? What is one to do but dream and escape into a make belief world, into something out of this world. Immerse, yes immerse oneself and throw oneself in the arts – and who better to throw yourself in his art but the one and only Vincent Van Gogh.
This year, "Fever" did us all good. It got us all excited with its latest Immersive Vincent Van Gogh show here in Washington, DC. The exhibit's experience is captivating in every sense of the word through its multi-sensory approach. You are welcomed by a very friendly staff who are proud of this wonderful show. The down to earth staff guide one through this amazing exhibition. They assist you in the VR portion which is my favorite part of the exhibit, and engage one with Van Gogh’s life, struggles and what makes him the perfect artist of choice for a remarkable immersive show of such high production. It is not only Vincent’s masterful brush strokes and amazing art that gets the viewers, it is his unique story along with the struggles throughout his life that capture our soul. I for one, can relate to his struggles and his journey as an artist. I know what it takes and how difficult the life of an artist can be. How the road is not always pleasant, how the path can be dimmed with fog while crows fly and caw up above. I know how feverish his strokes feel – I feel them too. Hence, the beauty of this immersive show is that it transports one to Van Gogh’s world so effortlessly and so gladly that for at least one day, we can see what Vincent saw.
I definitely recommend this experience to all DMV art lovers. If you have to immerse yourself in a virtual art show experience, then let it be this one.
