WASHINGTON, DC — Vice President Kamala Harris tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, according to a statement issued by her office.

The vice president is currently showing no symptoms and has not been in close contact with President Joe Biden or first lady Jill Biden in recent days, the statement said.

Harris tested positive on both rapid and a PCR test, according to her office. She will isolate at her residence, where she will work remotely. The statement said she would only return to the White House once she tests negative for the virus.

The vice president's positive diagnosis comes more than a month after her husband, second gentleman Doug Emhoff, tested positive for COVID-19.

Harris, 57, received her first dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine weeks before taking office and a second dose just days after Inauguration Day in 2021. She received a booster shot in late October and an additional booster on April 1.
