Victim Identified In Hillbrook Fatal Shooting: DC Police
Homicide detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department identified the victim of a Tuesday morning fatal shooting in the Hillbrook area.

WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department released the identity of the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred early Tuesday morning in the Hillbrook area, according to a police report. The deceased victim was identified as Demetrius Benson, 24, of Southeast.
Sixth District officers were dispatched around 12 a.m., to the 4500 block of Dix St., N.E., for the report of a shooting. When they arrived on the scene, they found Benson suffering from a gunshot wound. D.C. FEMS transported him to a nearby hospital for treatment, but all lifesaving efforts failed and he was pronounced dead.

MPD is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any persons responsible for committing a homicide in the District. Police ask anyone with information about this case to call 202-727-9099 or send an anonymous tip by text to 50411.
