Violent DC Inauguration Protests: 5 More Alleged Rioters Indicted

Police say rioters smashed windows, threw objects at police and even set a limousine on fire during the inauguration of Donald Trump.

WASHINGTON, DC — A grand jury has indicted five more people on charges of felony rioting in connection to a violent confrontation between anarchists and police on Inauguration Day last month in D.C.

A grand jury in the Superior Court of D.C. charged the following five individuals, according to a WJLA report: Alessandro Pane, Alexei Wood, Kaitlyn Rorke, Matthew Pink and Dane Powell.

They were charged for incidents that happened in the vicinity of 13th and O Street NW and 12th and L Street NW on Jan. 20.

Police clashed with anarchists in the Franklin Square area in downtown on Inauguration Day as thousands of protesters descended on the District to demonstrate against the inauguration of Donald Trump. Most protests were peaceful, but a pocket of violence tied up D.C. police in downtown for much of the day, as rioters smashed windows, threw objects at police and even set a limousine on fire.

So far, 214 people have been indicted in connection with the violence, according to the report.
