Virus Infects MedStar Health Computers; Networks Shut Down
There is no evidence of compromised information, according to MedStar.

A virus that has affected the MedStar Health computer system is causing major outages across its network, MedStar said in a statement. The virus is reportedly preventing users from logging in to the system.
"MedStar acted quickly with a decision to take down all system interfaces to prevent the virus from spreading throughout the organization. We are working with our IT and Cyber-security partners to fully assess and address the situation," the statement said.

All MedStar facilities will remain open.

"There's been a suspected cyber attack," Baltimore FBI spokesman David Fitz told the Baltimore Sun. "We're assisting."
A MedStar employee told the Washington Post the entire computer system is inaccessible.
MedStar Health operates 10 hospitals and employs 30,000 people in the Washington D.C. and Maryland region. The Associated Press reported the virus has affected Washington's Georgetown University along with other hospitals in the region.
