Wacky New Nightclub Coming to Dupont Circle Area
"Decades" will feature tributes to the '80s, '90s and 2000s in a four-level, 10,000-square-foot venue.

WASHINGTON, DC — A big new nightclub is coming to downtown D.C. that will be split into four floors, each dedicated to a different era of music.
Decades, a "retro-inspired" nightclub, will be located at 1219 Connecticut Avenue NW near Dupont Circle. It is the newest venture from Antonis Karagounis, who is behind other D.C. clubs like Echostage, Soundcheck, L8, Ultrabar and Barcode, according to a statement.
"Each floor of the 10,000-square-foot, four-level Decades will be dedicated and decorated to reflect a different musical era," the statement notes. "The first floor is all about hits from the 2000s through present day, featuring a CD-covered DJ booth and a VIP “Pop Room” with murals of stars past and present such as Beyonce, Diddy, J.LO and Rihanna.

"The second floor will be ruled by the '90s, with Rubik’s Cube furniture, a pool table, pinball machine and arcade games," the statement continues. "In addition to DJs spinning the hottest tunes from the '90s, the venue will occasionally enlist talent from the decade to perform live on stage.
"The gold-themed third floor will take music lovers back to the gilded age of hip-hop, toasting all facets of the iconic culture. Every aspect of the floor will get a nod to the era, with one-of-a-kind features like a wall showcasing legendary apparel from the ‘80s to an opulent “Bling Room” with a private bathroom highlighting hits from the mega-pop '90s, 2000s and more."

A fourth floor, which will be on the rooftop, will open in 2017. This semi-enclosed outdoor area will aim for the feel of a classic Miami nightclub.
DJ Enferno, who has toured with the likes of Madonna, will help define Decades' sound.
