Waltonwood Ashburn Shows Appreciation for Local Emergency Responders

Waltonwood Ashburn residents decided to show their appreciation by personally delivering a meal to Fire Station 6 on Thursday, May 4.

The Waltonwood Ashburn team, together with some of the community’s future residents attended this year’s 32nd Annual Valor Award ceremony and decided to show their own appreciation in a unique way. As a symbol of their gratitude for local first responders, they personally delivered a meal to Fire Station 6 on Thursday, May 4. According to National Fire Protection, the estimated number of firefighters working in the U.S. is over one million. Of that number, a little over 30 percent are career firefighters and about 70 percent are volunteers. The Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department is composed of volunteers and career firefighters who are committed to protecting the lives and property of people who live and work in Loudoun County. Waltonwood Ashburn took time to acknowledge these brave men and women for their lifesaving actions. Windy City Red Hots, a local family-owned eatery, catered their authentic Chicago-style food.

“Fire Station 6 will serve our community, and we wanted to show them how thankful we are for their service even before we welcome our first resident,” said Justin Roberts, executive director of Waltonwood Ashburn. “Emergency responders are a critical part of any community as they risk their lives for other citizens. We wanted to go the extra mile for these courageous men and women who put themselves in harm’s way to keep our neighborhood safe.”
