Warning, Capitals Fans: Taking the Metro Won't Be Easy for Some
Metro is totally shutting down the Blue Line starting on Saturday, just in time for a home game at Verizon Center against the Ducks.
WASHINGTON, DC — The Capitals' blue line undoubtedly will be stellar this Saturday against the Anaheim Ducks, but Metro's won't be. The Blue Line is being totally shut down starting Feb. 11 and running through Feb. 28, so Caps fans who take that line into the city will need to figure out a different route.
The next SafeTrack "Surge" begins on Feb. 11 with an 18-day shutdown on the Blue Line between Rosslyn and Pentagon stations. However, Metro went a step further recently by completely shutting down the Blue Line over that period and instead running Yellow Line Rush+ trains between Franconia-Springfield and Greenbelt.
These trains will run in addition to Yellow Line trains between Huntington and Mt. Vernon Square.

"The previous plan would have run Blue Line trains on a short segment of the line in Virginia -- between Franconia-Springfield and Reagan National Airport only," Metro says in a statement. "At the airport, riders would have had to transfer to Yellow Line trains to continue their trip."
