GAME 1 RECAP: The Caps lost a back-and-forth game in which they often took the lead only for Vegas to quickly answer. Brett Connolly was first on board for the Caps in the 1st period, followed by Nick Backstrom less than a minute later. John Carlson scored in the 2nd period and Tom Wilson scored in the 3rd.
GAME 2 RECAP: After falling behind 1-0, the Caps scored three straight with goals from Lars Eller, Alex Ovechkin, and Brooks Orpik. Vegas got a goal back on the power play, but late-game heroics from Holtby kept the score at 3-2 until the final buzzer. The win was potentially costly for the Caps, with Evgeny Kuznetsov leaving the ice with an injury and not returning.
