Toney was a 2021 seventh-round pick; he appeared in 26 games over the last two seasons, NBC said. He has 16 tackles and 1.5 sacks in those appearances.

A league review uncovered no evidence that inside information was used or that any game was compromised by players who bet on games, an NFL statement said.

Four Detroit Lions players were also suspended for gambling. Wide receiver Jameson Williams and wide receiver Stanley Berryhill were suspended for the first six games of the 2023 regular season. But, wide receiver Quintez Cephus and safety C.J. Moore were suspended indefinitely and released by the team, the organization said.
