WATCH: Cleveland Park Metro Station Suddenly Floods With Water [VIDEO]
The station was closed for several hours after water came cascading down the escalator.

The Cleveland Park Metro Station had to shut down yesterday after the torrential downpour caused water to cascade down the escalator in an incident caught on a Metro surveillance camera.
Red Line service was unaffected, but the station had to be closed for several hours to dry out and allow for crews to inspect the elevators.
The incident happened just after 6 p.m. and was over in 10 minutes, according to a WTOP report. The water had come over a curb on Connecticut Avenue before finding its way to the escalator. The water didn't reach the tracks.

The main reason for closing the station was because of sediment brought by the water, not the water itself. The station reopened three hours later.
