Watch President Obama Greet His Friend, Afghanistan Veteran Cory, One More Time [VIDEO]
As Obama's presidency winds down, his old friend Cory Remsburg, a disabled Army vet, visits him in the White House.
President Barack Obama was just a few months into his presidency when he first met young Army Ranger Cory Remsburg in 2009, seven years ago today. Months after that, he was nearly killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan.
Ever since then, Obama has made a point to pay a visit to Remsburg on a regular basis -- and in video released today, for the first time, Remsburg walked on his own a short distance in the Oval Office at the White House to shake the president's hand.
"Over the years, I've met up with Cory as he's worked hard to recover, and I've shared his incredible story with you," Obama said in a Facebook post that included a video of their meeting. "Now, seven years after we first met, Cory recently visited me in the Oval Office - and for the first time since the explosion, Cory is walking short distances unassisted. He was determined to walk into the Oval Office on his own."

Obama added that no one has inspired him more than Remsburg.
"He never quits. He never gives up," the president continued. "And he's always pushing the limits, reminding us of our solemn obligation to all our veterans and wounded warriors who've risked their lives for us all."
