Watch These Adorable Pandas Devour Their Birthday Cakes at the National Zoo in DC [VIDEO]
Bei Bei, Bao Bao and Tian Tian all celebrated their birthdays over the weekend.

WASHINGTON, DC — It was quite the celebration at the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington, D.C., this weekend as pandas Bei Bei, Bao Bao and Tian Tian all celebrated birthdays — although poor Bei Bei had his cake eaten by his mother.
Throngs of visitors flocked to the zoo on Saturday, Aug. 20 to watch as the staff brought out cakes for 1-year-old Bei Bei — already weighing in at 70 pounds — and his 3-year-old sister Bao Bao. Tian Tian, their father, will be turning 19 years old (pandas live about 20 years in the wild). Mei Xiang, their mother, wandered out to eat Bei Bei's cake as he slept in the cave.
The Chinese embassy was also on hand to offer guests a tasting of Dan Dan noodles, which are a cold dish from Sichuan province, the location of the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda, according to a Smithsonian statement.

Huge crowds came to watch the pandas romp and play, almost oblivious to everyone watching them.
The pandas are on loan to the United States through a partnership with China. Mei Xiang and Tian Tian arrived in the United States back in December 2000. Their arrival has led to a successful breeding program at the zoo.

Tian Tian is the father of all panda cubs born and survived at the National Zoo. Tai Shan was the first panda cub to be born at the zoo and live. He was later sent back to China to participate in a breeding program.
