Wegmans Hiring Workers For DC Store Scheduled To Open Next Summer

Wegmans Food Markets has begun hiring workers for its new store in Northwest D.C. in the old Fannie Mae headquarters building.

WASHINGTON, DC — Wegmans Food Markets has begun hiring workers for its new store in Northwest D.C. in part of the building that used to serve as the headquarters of Fannie Mae on Wisconsin Ave. NW. The store will be Wegmans' first in the District of Columbia.

Located at the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and Rodman Street, the store is scheduled to open in the summer of 2022. Wegmans plans to employ about 450 people at the location, including 150 full-time positions.

Full-time job applicants can apply online at Wisconsin Ave. Jobs. Interviews are conducted by appointment only and applications are not accepted at the store construction site.

Available full-time positions include everything from entry-level management to customer service, overnight grocery and culinary roles such as chefs and line cooks. Hiring for part-time positions will begin at a later date.

In 2021, Wegmans placed fourth on Fortune magazine’s list of “The 100 Best Companies to Work For.”

Wegmans offers competitive pay and benefits packages, premium pay on Sundays and holidays, tuition assistance through the company’s employee scholarship program and flexible scheduling.

Wegmans Wisconsin Ave. is part of the City Ridge development, which includes commercial, residential and retail facilities. The 84,000 square-foot supermarket will include a Market Café, coffee shop and a casual restaurant called The Burger Bar.

The store site will include parking and will be near the Tenleytown Metro station.
