What's Open, Closed For New Year's Day 2021 In DC

Many services are closed on Thursday and Friday for the New Year's holiday.

WASHINGTON, DC — As New Year's Day approaches, families are modifying holiday plans to limit the chances of spreading the virus that causes COVID-19 illness. One thing that remains the same is the closure or modification of many services in D.C. for the holiday.

Here's a look at what's open and what's closed in D.C.:

Government offices: Closed Friday

Courts: Closed Friday

Libraries: Friday closed

U.S. Postal Service: The post office will be closed on Friday

Trash and recycling: No collections on Friday, collections resume on Saturday
