Suspect Detained After Suspicious Package Found Near White House Grounds
A suspicious package on the north side of the White House triggered an evacuation of the area.

UPDATE 11:56 a.m.: A suspect has been placed in custody; the investigation into the suspicious package continues.
WASHINGTON, DC — The White House reportedly was placed on lockdown Tuesday morning due to a suspicious package near the grounds of the building.
The item was found on the north side of the grounds, and Secret Service is investigating. The Hill and multiple other sources indicated that it was a lockdown situation, although the Secret Service did not use that word on their official Twitter account.

The lockdown was lifted at 11:37 a.m., according to one White House correspondent.
