Woman Set On Fire In DC: Report

The woman reportedly is alive after the incident.

WASHINGTON, DC -- A woman was set on fire while possibly trying to break up a fight, according to a report.

Fox 5 reporter Evan Lambert tweeted Sunday night that the incident happened on 37th Street SE, and the woman was doused with gasoline and set on fire.

"Homicide detectives are here, but it’s unclear if the woman is still alive," he wrote. "She may have been trying to break up fight."

Lambert later reported that the woman was alive.

The Washington Post reported that the patient had "critical burn injuries" and was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Police believe that a fight broke out in the 200 block of 37th Street SE at around 6:30 p.m., and the woman tried to break up the fight when a suspect lit her on fire, according to the report.

Police are investigating.
