Woman Trapped In Burning Car In DC Tried To Escape: Report
Police have identified the decedent as 23-year-old Kerrice Lewis of Hyattsville.

WASHINGTON, DC -- A Hyattsville woman who was shot multiple times tried to escape from the trunk of a car as it burned, according to a horrifying new report.
D.C. police issued a statement Tuesday identifying the woman who died in the 800 block of Adrian Place SE on Dec. 28 as 23-year-old Kerrice Lewis of Hyattsville.
"At approximately 7:21 pm, members of the Sixth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting," the report states. "Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle on fire. Once the fire was extinguished, an unconscious and unresponsive adult female was discovered inside of the vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and determined there were no signs consistent with life."

Fox 5 reporter Lindsay Watts tweeted that the woman, who went by Kay Kay, "was trying to get out of car as it burned," citing a police source.
Police are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of a suspect.
