• Anna Maria receives 8 bids for city pier T-end work (islander.org) — Anna Maria is moving closer to reopening its storm-damaged City Pier, with eight contractors bidding on demolition, remediation, and new hurricane-rated sliding glass doors for the T-end. Mayor Mark Short and staff will review proposals and bring recommendations to city commissioners, who meet Thursday, May 14, at city hall on Gulf Drive. 
• AMI Moose Lodge awards six scholarships, lodge officers elected (amisun.com) — Local students with family ties to Anna Maria Island Moose Lodge 2188 just received six new $2,500 scholarships through the inaugural Ernie J. Casali Jr. Memorial program. The lodge also elected new officers, including Kip Altman as president and EJ Casali III as chaplain, underscoring the Casali family’s ongoing role in the island’s Moose community.
• Commission chooses police department over sheriff's office (amisun.com) — Bradenton Beach commissioners have voted to keep their own police department instead of contracting with the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, despite projected cost savings similar to what Anna Maria pays for coverage. Residents and business owners packed the meeting to praise the local officers’ community relationships, hurricane response, and small-town feel, arguing that any tax savings would be minor compared to what might be lost.
