• Driver is charged for leaving the scene of a fatal crash near Auburndale (polktimes.com) — An Auburndale resident has been charged for allegedly leaving the scene of a 2025 crash near Auburndale that killed a 20-year-old Lake Alfred man riding an electric bicycle. Polk County Sheriff’s detectives say evidence shows the driver should have known he hit a person and delayed calling 911 before returning to the scene. The case is now moving forward through the courts.
