Now she's suing (mtsu.edu) — A South Florida State College English professor who taught at the Avon Park campus is suing the college president and trustees, claiming she was fired for assigning a widely taught short story in her freshman English class. The federal lawsuit argues her First Amendment and academic freedom rights were violated when the president labeled the story “political” and ordered her not to teach it.
